Russian Jewish New York: Traveling Back in Time on the Lower East Side with Yigal Kotler

We embark on a walking tour of the Lower East Side of 100 years ago, the period of Jewish emigration from Russia in the late 19th/early 20th century. We will visit historical sights, discuss old documents and photographs, meet Rabbis and gangsters, tailors and revolutionaries, intellectuals and beggars. Together we will attempt to recreate the atmosphere of that time, and learn about the everyday life of the immigrants, their hardships and hopes, their failures and achievements.

———-

This walking tour is in Russian.

Tickets: $20 per person
Location: Lower East Side, meeting place will be emailed to registered people a few days before the event.
