Gelena Blishteyn


Chief Operating Officer at Marks JCH of Bensohurst

Gelena Blishteyn serves the role of the Chief Operating Officer at Marks JCH of Bensohurst, Brooklyn, NY. A Russian-speaking Jewish émigré herself, Gelena holds a leadership role at her JCC, which has resettled over 50,000 immigrants from the Former Soviet Union. A Columbia University graduate, Gelena’s main areas of study included émigré identity and language acquisition – fields she has incorporated to build award-winning programming for JCH clients and staff trainings in the JCC network. Gelena is a proud mother of two, practices yoga to quell her mind and is passionate about exploring the world.

COJECO was formed in 2001 as an umbrella organization for grassroots community organizations of Russian-speaking Jewish immigrants in New York to make their voices heard and respected. Today we represent over 30 such network organizations, including young adult leadership groups, Holocaust Survivors, professional associations, arts & culture organizations, and social justice groups.
