COJECO is excited to launch its Adult B’nai Mitzvah Journey, a program for Russian-speaking Jewish adults in New York! This unique experience encourages and enables the participants to join meaningful Jewish learning, celebrate their Bar/Bat Mitzvah, and bring the joy of Jewish living to their families.
The program empowers RSJ change makers to create their own community-building initiatives, with the support of a network of peers, educational workshops, one-on-one mentorship, and mini-grants for project implementation.

Rabbi Ilana Baird lives and works in Silicon Valley, California. She works at the Addison-Penzak JCC in Los Gatos as Russian Language Jewish Programs Manager, planning, promoting and leading events and ongoing programs. Previously, she established a Reform congregation "Shirat HaYam - Carmel" for young Russian speaking Jewish families in Haifa, Israel. Ilana was ordained at the Hebrew Union College in Jerusalem in 2006. During her rabbinic studies, Rabbi Ilana Baird visited Jewish communities throughout the Former Soviet Union and in Germany, where she led High Holiday services, Passover seders, taught and generally supported RSJ communities. She earned an M.A. in Jewish history at Haifa University. Rabbi Ilana Baird made aliyah from Russia to Israel in 1993. She is married to David Baird and has twin teenage daughters.
Mission: The Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center of Silicon Valley is dedicated to the enhancement of Jewish life by providing for the social, cultural, educational, recreational, health and wellness needs of our community. We provide a common meeting place and extend these services as a resource for the entire Jewish and general community in the town of Los Gatos and greater Silicon Valley.
COJECO was formed in 2001 as an umbrella organization for grassroots community organizations of Russian-speaking Jewish immigrants in New York to make their voices heard and respected. Today we represent over 30 such network organizations, including young adult leadership groups, Holocaust Survivors, professional associations, arts & culture organizations, and social justice groups.
