About Event

his Side of the Sea is an animated short film developed to explore intergenerational trauma in America’s Russian-Speaking Jewish immigrant community, and start to close a generational gap in the understanding of our past.
Directed by Ilya Tselnik, a Moldavian-American Jewish immigrant and animator living in New York City, the film aims to use the nostalgic medium of animation to tell a modern and fantastic story inspired by the artist’s own family and experiences, asking the audience to consider how our shared culture, heritage, and history can both unite and divide us.
