One of the most iconic pastrami sandwiches in NYC can be found at Katz Deli in NYC. The historic Jewish deli in the Lower East side serves up a dose of nostalgia and a taste of Jewish culture. How exactly did a place like Katz become iconic? This presentation will investigate the history of Jewish delis, their Eastern European roots, and their arrival and integration into America. It will explore the future of Jewish delis in NYC as Jewish culture and the idea of the Jewish deli adapts.

The session will be led by COJECO Program Director Monica Kleyman. It will be conducted in English.
