Latke-Making with Best-Selling Cookbook Author Anya von Bremzen

 

Enjoy making and eating different types of gourmet latkes as award-winning author Anya von Bremzen and her mom share their culinary secrets with fellow Russian speakers in this Chanukah event. The evening will begin with candle lighting and a round of dreidel, with the winner receiving a copy of von Bremzen’s latest book, Mastering the Art of Soviet Cooking: A Memoir of Food and Longing.

 

Anya von Bremzen, the recipient of three James Beard awards, is a contributing editor at Travel + Leisure magazine and the author of five acclaimed cookbooks, including The New Spanish Table, The Greatest Dishes: Around the World in 80 Recipes, and Please to the Table: The Russian Cookbook (coauthored by John Welchman).

Generation Я is an initiative at JCC Manhattan for Russian Jews created by Russian Jews. Sharing similar childhood and immigration experiences, Russian-speaking Jews (RSJs) in their 20s, 30s, and 40s create and experience programs that explore the dual nature of their identities as American Jews from Russian-speaking families.
