About Event

ShulamitShulamit, an opera originally created as part of the COJECO Blueprint Fellowship, with music and Libretto by Dina Pruzhansky is directed by Laura Alley Dietrich with David Rosenmeyer as conductor. Having premiered her one-act opera at the JCC in the fall 2014, Ms. Pruzhansky is back to present a full-scale version of her ambitious piece. A 12-person live orchestra accompanies a cast of renowned performers, while elaborate costumes and sets bring the musical drama to life.

The story, based on the Song of Songs, takes place in ancient Jerusalem during the reign of King Solomon and is a classic love story with a twist. Ms. Pruzhansky’s memorable melodies make Shulamit’s dramatic fate that much more compelling.
